A handsome deciduous Shrub with pretty pink shoots in the Spring followed by purple and cream variegated foliage through the summer and vivid red autumn foliage. Yellow flowers in Spring. Normally 1.5 m tall and wide, it can grow to 2 m in favourable situations but will tolerate hard pruning. A very reliable plant in most soils and situations apart from heavy shade.
