Calycanthus Floridus
Fragrant reddish purple, almost rust coloured flowers in mid Summer on this 2 to 3 m high deciduous shrub. Originally from South Carolina. With scented wood & leaves, it can form a fairly dense thicket if planted in good soil, sun or light shade. Oil distilled from the flowers is used in the manafacture of perfumes.
