A deciduous species up to 3 m tall with elongated lilac, marked orange flower panicles in late Summer. The new shoots and underside of the leaves covered in white down. Native of Szechwan in western China. Benefits from spring pruning, a sunny position and a well drained site. Relatively hardy.

An easily grown tall vigorous deciduous shrub with panicles of very large dark pink, marked white flowers in early summer. Collected by Sir Joseph Hooker in Sikkim. Discrete pruning to avoid removing the following years flowers. Hardy when established but needs some protection when young. Grows well in full sun and well drained soil.

A Unusual deciduous Shrub from Japan, with pale green leaves and white, shaded lilac flowers in August which are followed in the Autumn by clouds of white berries on the bare stems lasting into the winter. 3 m x 2 m. Quite hardy, it prefers a reasonably well drained soil and sun or light shade.

An upright deciduous Shrub, originating in western China, 2 to 3 m high.�Bronze young leaves and pale pink flowers in mid Summer are followed by a mass of violet berries of a striking intensity to brighten the autumn and winter months. Tolerant of a wide range of soils in sun or light shade.
