In the Snowy mountains of SE Australia, this evergreen shrub can grow to 4 m, but doesnt seem to be so vigorous in the UK. One of the hardier bottle brushes, it produces clusters of conspicuous creamy yellow flowers along the stems during the summer. With small pointed leaves and a dense habit it prefers a sunny position and well drained soil.

A recent introduction from China, this deciduous Shrub grows to 3 m x 3 m with large yellow centered white flowers, marked maroon in the Spring. Also known as Sinocalycanthus chinensis, it prefers a well drained, slightly acidic good loamy soil in full sun or light shade. May require some shelter in hard winters.
